What affects Christmas light installation cost?
The areas you want lit, the shape of your home, and access to the roofline all help define the work. Your quote should make those details clear before you book.
Start with the layout, then compare the price.
A front roofline and a display with several peaks and entrance decorations are different projects. A photo and a clear description of what you want help us review your scope. A single price per foot cannot explain every part of an installation.
One home, two different quotes
Imagine a home with a garage, an upper peak, and a front entrance. These two requests cover different work:
- Front roofline
- Lights along the specified front edges, with the color and endpoints agreed in advance.
- Roofline and entrance
- The same edges, plus an upper peak and selected entrance decorations. The quote needs to identify the extra areas, materials, and access requirements.
This is a planning example, not a priced package. Sketch the areas on a home photo so everyone is comparing the same display.
The details that affect the scope
Roofline length and shape
Identify which edges you want lit, including upper peaks, porch roofs, and garage rooflines. More separate runs or a more detailed layout can mean a different amount of installation work. A photo preview does not provide exact measurements.
Height and access
Share anything that may affect access, such as gates, landscaping, slopes, or areas that are difficult to reach. The same lighting layout can require different planning on two properties.
Lights and entrance accents
Choose a starting color and tell us whether you want wreaths, bows, or other entrance details considered. The written quote confirms which materials and decorations are included. A designer image communicates your preferences.

MERRYLINE projects have a $1,000 minimum. We supply the lights and include installation, in-season maintenance, and removal. The lights remain MERRYLINE’s property for reuse next season. Your written quote confirms the final price, decorations, and detailed service and storage arrangements. Compare those same items when reviewing another quote.
Will next year cost the same?
Ask what a future installation would include and whether changing the layout, replacing decorations, or storing lights affects the price. Do not assume the first quote also sets the cost for future seasons.
Can I get a price from a photo?
A clear photo gives us a starting point. Send it with your town, ZIP code, and preferred layout so we can review your request. Final price and availability are confirmed with you. Submitting a photo does not reserve an installation date.
