What to check in a Christmas lighting quote

Compare the same lighting layout
A total price is only useful when you understand what it covers. Check which rooflines are included, where each run begins and ends, and whether the entrance or additional areas are part of the plan. Two quotes for the same home may describe very different displays. Ask for unclear areas to be identified before you approve the work.
Confirm the lights and decorations
Look for the selected light color and any wreaths, bows, or other accents in the written scope. A concept image helps communicate the look, but the quote should confirm the actual decoration options and placement. Ask whether you own the lights after installation or whether the arrangement covers their use for the season.
Ask about access and the installation date
Roof height, the shape of the house, and access to the areas being lit can affect the scope. Make the installer aware of gates, landscaping, or other access considerations. Confirm how an installation date is arranged and how schedule changes will be communicated. A quote request by itself does not reserve a date.
Review what happens during and after the season
Check how you should report a lighting problem, what seasonal service is included, and whether there are additional charges. Review removal and storage separately. Ask who removes the lights, how the timing is arranged, and where the materials go afterward. Do not assume these services are included because another company includes them.
Read the total and payment terms together
Review the final scope, total price, deposit, and balance payment terms before booking. If you change the layout, ask for an updated written quote.
